I was just contacted by email today by someone attempting to steal my World of Warcraft account information. The attempt was made along with a threat of perma-ban if I didn’t respond with all my information, including my username AND password. Folks, remember – Blizzard will never, ever, ever ask for your password. Ever!
The email looks convincing enough if you don’t know any better, so I’m putting out this warning incase you get the same one or something similar. The first thing to look out for is very obviously the password question. But also keep in mind with this and any other phishing scam is the reply to email address. In this case, the reply to address was @mail-blizzard.com instead of just @blizzard.com. Looks convincing to most but it’s not actually a Blizzard owned domain name, just similar. The full body of the email follows:
Greetings!
It has come to our attention that you are trying to sell your personal World of Warcraft account(s).
As you may not be aware of, this conflicts with the EULA and Terms of Agreement.
If this proves to be true, your account can and will be disabled.
It will be ongoing for further investigation by Blizzard Entertainment’s employees.
If you wish to not get your account suspended you should immediately verify your account ownership.
You can confirm that you are the original owner of the account by replying to this email with:

If you ignore this mail your account can and will be closed permanently. Once we verify your account, we will reply to your e-mail informing you that we have dropped the investigation.
