It’s been a while since I’ve been over to Mythic’s website but have noticed they have released their minimum system specs for Warhammer Online. The specs are within reach of most gamers these days, but after the launch black screen disaster that was Age of Conan for many, it should be pointed out that still lots of people do not meet the requirements.
For example, the problem with Age of Conan was the Pixel Shader 2.0 support. You could turn this off through some manual config editing, but this was causing a major problem for thousands of players. WAR looks like it has potential for having the same problem, so if you plan to play – be sure to check that your video card supports Shader 2.0 technology. Many new cards are up to Shader 3.0 now, but cards just a few generations old are still stuck on the 1.0 version, so be sure to double check your card.
Here are the minimum system specs for WAR, and for fun we’ve included the minimum system specs for WoW in parantheses next to the WAR specs for comparison. You didn’t think you were going to get away without seeing another WAR vs WOW topic did you?
Processor: 2.5Ghz P4 single core or equivalent (Intel P3 800Mhz)
System Memory: 1 Gigabyte of RAM (512mb)
Video Card: 128mb Video Card with Pixel Shader 2.0 (32 MB 3D graphics card)
Hard Drive Space: 15GB Free Space (6GB)
It should be noted that after Mythic posted the minimum specs to include Pixel Shader 2.0, they went on to provide a list of all supported graphics cards, many of which do not support Pixel Shader 2.0 technology. So who knows what will happen with your old card? Roll the dice.
