I’m not one of the lucky ones who managed to get a pre-order copy of Darkfall but I’ve been watching this one for quite some time. Out on the blogosphere there is quite a buzz about what’s going on with the initial launch of the game. If you are like me and misses out on the Euro launch, don’t fret to much. You aren’t missing a lot just yet.
As with any MMORPG launch there are issues, this is usually why I tend to stay away from a new MMO for the first few weeks or even months of the game going live. Everyone wants to jump in and be the first to do this or that. Trust me, if you don’t get in on the first day or even the first month you can still end up being a real powerhouse in the game. You aren’t really being set that far back. Anyway, back to the issues at hand.
There is a really detailed right up about the issues here, but the gist of it is there are some fairly major exploits going on due to bugs in the game. The biggest issue is the AI on mobs seems to be out of whack, similar to what has happened in countless other MMO’s where you are being attacked by invisible monsters/players or you swing at one all day and nothing happens. The problem with this is apparently with this bug you can swing at some monsters and they don’t swing back but do take damage and die. That is potential for a HUGE exploit, which some players in Darkfall are taking advantage of by venturing to high level areas and killing monsters that should be way out of their league.
Money in Darkfall is not easy to come by in the early stages of the game. However by the end of day one, several guilds have formed (costing 2,000 gold each) and clan stones for building towns have been purchased (1,000 gold each). Not to mention many players geared way beyond their level due to exploitation. Apparently the servers went down for a hot fix to try to deal with some of the issues, but what is going to happen to the exploiters (playing the game in a way that was not intended to be played) remains to be seen.
You would hope that Adventurine would wipe their characters at the very least or, depending on the scope of exploitation involved, do a complete server wipe and start over – the latter of which is pretty unlikely. Something very similar happened in Age of Conan early in the game. If I remember correctly there was a quest that you could just continually turn in and get credit and xp over and over once you completed it. Taking those who figured out the exploit up to the maximum level on day one. Not to mention getting not only their characters wiped, but their accounts banned.
As far as other issues, there are more of course, there are some problems with locking up in various stages of loading the game. Forever sitting in the loading queue for example. And problems with new character creation, Keen points out also that when you delete a new character that doesn’t work – you lose the opportunity to use the name you chose, they don’t come out of the database.

UPDATE from Adventurine:
We didn’t manage to completely eliminate the sync issue affecting players in the game earlier today. Our real-time monitor alerted us of this as soon as we brought up the server and players started entering the game. We need to take more time to address this. There is no ETA as of yet. We’ll keep you posted on any developments.

I thank you for your opinion, as retarded as it may be.
I have now played, and true it is skill based, skills still have a max level, limit, whatever of 100. Thanks and come again.
