Massively just ran a story on WAR: How to Conquer a Capital City in which they explain the end game scenario that Realm vs Realm combat in WAR focuses on. In Realm vs Realm, just about everything you do contributes to your Realm’s success. From PVE quests to PVP to crafting, everything influences your Realm’s control over certain zones and ultimately leads up to your Realm attacking your enemies Keep and ultimately their capital city.
I know some people are a little confused over exactly what Realm vs Realm is, when I first heard of the concept I imagined the battlefield concept that Blizzard came up with pitting players from a group of servers (a Realm by WoW’s definition) up against eachother. This insured more action in battlefields as previously they were only server against server, leading to low to empty off peak times. In WAR, the Realm is basically your faction. So Realm vs Realm is really just Order vs Destruction and doesn’t appear to be cross server combat as many ex Wow players may assume.
Anywho, the end game scenario of attacking your enemies capital city turns into an instanced PVP game taking place within the city. Each side gets a limited number of players keeping things fair. I’m assuming since the instance is fairly small groups of players, 48 vs 48 I think, that there will be more than once battle instance running and multiple instances will decide the outcome overall. Participating in the final battles will grant you some of the best possible loot in the game, should you succeed. It appears that once the capital city is attacked however, the no matter the outcome the status of the conflict is basically reset back to default and you go all over again. If the assaulting team wins they get hordes of loot and bragging rights. If the defenders win it is a little vague on rewards for the defenders but as of yet I don’t see any mention of anything other than they are successful in resetting the zones back to default. If anyone can shed any light on that it would be much appreciated!

Warhammer is a dead game.
They have now removed 90% of the end game content in preperation for putting the game on the shelf. We call this maintence mode; when a MMO company reduces the requirements on the upkeep for the game so only a couple servers are needed to keep it going. Mythic’s Andy has admitted in a test server discussion that the rumors are true. EA is giving up on production and development of Warhammer, that thy will not turn off the servers, but updates will be less often (other thn pre programmed events).
This is very sad to the WAR community, since this was a game with a lot of promise. Those who have invested thousands of hours are now out of game, after only 18 months of being live. We can only hope that new games such as Star Wars : The Old Republic, will be something worth playing and will last years.
