If you’re looking for a bit of fun this weekend I’ve found something you may be interested in that’s off the beaten path. The staff of writers, leads and columnists over at Massively.com are hosting their first get together being sponsored by SOE’s PlanetSide. SOE will be letting players come in for free to join up in one of the three original factions of the New Conglomerate, the Terran Republic or the Vanu Sovereignty to do battle against a new faction, Massively! That’s right, SOE will be implementing a fourth, temporary of course, faction for the event to allow Massively staffers to be the bad guys to all other factions for some good old fashion fragging.
If you want to take part, you can do so for free. If you don’t already have a Station account, you can sign up for a free one at Station.Sony.com. Once you have an account, simply download the Sony Online Station Launcher here. Once you have the client installed, click on PlanetSide and select “Activate or Try Game”. Download the game then login and make a character, I highly suggest you do this prior to Saturday to insure you have the game fully patched and ready to play for the event.
The event starts at 6 PM EST on Saturday, June the 14th. Massively is suggesting everyone log in about half an hour early to be locked and loaded for when the event begins. Once the event starts, Massively.com will show details of where the Massively staffers are and there also should be an “Instant Action” button to allow players to get ported right to the thick of the fight.
