Well I finally got the email I’ve been waiting for. Sometime during the night I got the email from Age of Conan that my Early Access Download payment had been processed and I was cleared to begin the download of the AoC client. I started the download this morning, not feeling like I was in any real rush. After all, what’s the hurry the actual early access entry doesn’t start until next Saturday, plenty of time right? Wrong!
I just checked my status on the download, it’s going mind numbingly slow! Only about 27kbs per second! For about 14 gigabytes of download, that is going to take 5+ days to download at it’s current pace. That’s putting me really close to the start time! The downside of this is I can only imagine it getting slower as more people jump on board. The download is a bit torrent style download, so the more people that jump on and contribute by uploading what they’ve received should theoretically speed things up but as with most internet connections, download speeder is typically greater than upload speed.
