After Johnny Klebitz in the first XBOX Live downloadable episode GTA IV: “The Lost And Damnded”, who will be the final protagonist of the three-part Grand Theft Auto IV series? Rockstar has announced that there will be a second extra downloadable contents thanks to Microsoft, and will only be exclusive to all XBOX Live users with an XBOX360. Before ‘Lost And Damned’ became downloadable there were much speculation upon the clues that led Johnny to be the main character. Now that The Lost And Damned is well established and sold across the world speculation now grows for the second DLC protagonist. GameZig has the facts and you will hear who He is. Long and behold, GTA IV’s second DLC will be starring a character that has been under our noses all throughout Niko Belik and Johnny Klebitz’s story. He showed up in three of Niko’s missions as well as two of Johnny’s; has been referenced in two other cases and also has clued by Rockstar upon circumstances that links him to Niko and Johnny. If these aren’t “clues”, so-to-speak, then they are eight direct references to this character. His name is Luis Fernando Lopez. If the name doesn’t strike a match, maybe his picture would.

We will put the pieces together in chronological references for you so that you can clearly see how Luis is involved.

nullREFERENCE #1: Robbed Of A Robbery
null
During GTA IV’s epic mission “Three Leaf Clover“, Niko along with the McReary boys [Packie, Gerry, Derrick, and Michael] make a plan to ransack the Bank of Liberty Branch in Algonquin. During the second cutscene as they enter the Bank, Luis Lopez can be clearly spotted on the floor among other (maybe not so innocent) bystanders and is lying next to a fellow hostage by the name of Eugene Reaper. Eugene Reaper may be first seen as Niko passes him by in an earlier mission “Wrong Is Right” when he walks by Niko in front of the United Liberty Paper Building. Amidst an argument between Packie and Derrick, Eugene tells Luis that he’s going to do something about the bank robbery, in which Luis insists is a bad idea. Eugene comments on his experience as a football player when he broke his leg in three places and says that “the world is built out of bad ideas” – right before drawing a concealed pistol shooting and killing Michael McReary. Packie and Derrick immediately kill Reaper in retaliation. It is believed that for the second downloadable content Eugene and Luis were actually intending on robbing the bank themselves until Niko and the McReary boys entered and foiled their plan. Niko claimed to one of the McReary brothers during the mission, “I didn’t get all of it”, referring to the money. This would cause the situation for Luis to be a possible chase scene if he grabs the remainder of the loot.

nullREFERENCE #2: Diamonds In The Rough
null
In the mission “Diamonds In The Rough” of The Lost And Damned, Johnny is told by Ashley that Ray Boccino, a Caporegime of the Pegorino family, wants him to do something for them. Johnny speaks to Ray, and is told to get some diamonds, thus, notifies Johnny that he’ll need some help. After Johnny calls some biker brothers from the The Lost they arrive at the area and Luis is waiting there with Anthony Prince (aka ‘Gay Tony’) and others. Luis tells Gay Tony’s hired hand to flee with the diamonds in a limo, as he will deal with the other bikers. As Johnny gets ready for gun action he split his bikers in two groups and pursues Tony’s hired hand with the diamonds, as the others go after Luis and Gay Tony. It is presumed that Luis’s mission is to kill the other Lost bikers that attacked him through a chase mission. As Johnny’s actual mission ends it is shown that all the Lost Members who pursued Luis and Gay Tony died; which leads further proof to Luis becoming the next DLC protagonist. This definitely wouldn’t be the last time Luis and Johnny meet.

nullREFERENCE #3: Diamonds Are Forever
null
Are you getting more familiar with him now? If you still do not think that this is enough to prove that he will be the third protagonist of Grand Theft Auto IV here is more help to get you going. Niko, Johnny, and Luis show up all at once in a mission where diamonds are examined and proposed for a deal. For Niko, this mission was called “Museum Piece“. Mr Ray Boccino sent Niko to the Liberterium Museum to offload these diamonds in return for pay and intel of his nemesis Florian Cravic’s whereabouts. For Johnny in the Lost And Damned, this mission was called “Collector’s Item“, where Johnny is also sent by Ray Boccino to accompany Niko in the deal at the museum. Both Niko and Johnny had a bitter partnership with Ray and both have felt a bit of distaste for Ray’s inconsideration for their circumstances.

As Niko and Johnny meet inside Johnny states, “let’s hope this goes a little better than before yeah, come on let’s get inside”, then they head upstairs to make the deal with the Jewish Mob and the gang’s leader, Isaac Roth. The scene cuts toward the window adjacent to where the exchange is taking place, the camera pans downward, and the deal proceeds. During the exchange Maury, Isaac’s confidant, examines the diamonds and is suddenly shot by Luis who reveals himself from that very window. Luis says, “‘rest of you muthaf$#*%s wanna die, do something stupid OK?!”. One of Isaac’s men yells an obscenity as is quickly shot and killed by Luis. Niko and Johnny’s plans are foiled and their mission begins, Luis disappears! It is believed that Luis ambushed the deal to intercept the diamonds on behalf of the Ancelotti’s, a crime family opposing the Pegorinos. It is also believed that in Luis’s perspective his mission is to chase down and retrieve the diamonds from Isaac Roth since he slipped away from Niko and Johnny.

nullREFERENCE #4 and #5: The Impossible Trinity
null
Completing this museum mission playing as Niko earns you 10Gs and an unlocked achievement called Impossible Trinity. This is where all the speculation for Luis began! The title of this achievement left many GTA fans wondering what it meant. Could it mean that Niko, Johnny, and Luis together create the ‘Impossible Trinity’? This is supported by a notion which states that these three characters have been brought together by almost impossible events. Is it a matter on coincidence or a cheeky plan that Rockstar had up their sleeves all along, you’ll know when completing this article.
null
The fifth direct reference which supports that hypothesis of the’ Impossible Trinity’ is with the ending credits of The Lost And Damned. As the credits roll, one recap of the museum scenario shows Luis trying to escape via the roof as Johnny :: Niko escape by bike :: car. Luis dashes to a skylight, then begins to open fire at someone below. This is all too much of a coincidence for anyone to remain in denial. However, some discredit these notions reasonably and state that the ‘Impossible Trinity’ could mean that Niko has to deal with the diamonds a third time, in which the latter mission to handle them then is also foiled — making sense for the word ‘impossible‘. Yet, ‘trinity’ is a word that usually refers to three persons or things. In that case titling the achievement ‘Impossible Trinity’ makes more sense for Rockstar to name it in reference to Niko, Johnny, and Luis rather than Niko’s three missions.

nullREFERENCE #6: Wire-Tap
null
Johnny plants the wire-tap into Bryce Dawkin’s Infernus (which later becomes Niko’s). You are able to call a certain number to listen to the wiretap. Bernie Crane mentions Gay Tony, and then mentions Luis saying “If he played for our team I would totally be the catcher.” Much can be assumed here for Luis aside from his connection with Gay Tony. Maybe Luis meets Bernie and Bryce Dawkins during one of his missions. While playing as Niko you meet with Bernie who happens to be someone he has known growing up with a completely different identity. In the mission “Union Drive“, Bernie lets Niko know that some thugs found out about Bernie’s relationship with Mayor Bryce Dawkins, and Bryce is now being blackmailed. Luis could very well have been involved. Niko was to find a fast car and take Bernie to the rendezvous to meet with the blackmailers. The meet is at Grummer Road, and Bernie explains that the identity of the blackmailers is currently unknown – the people you are meeting with are only representatives of the blackmailers (hmmm). You piece that one together.

nullREFERENCE #7: Impossible Indeed
null
In cahoots with the final diamond mission we briefly touched upon, Niko along with Packie McReary have to retrieve those diamonds a third time in “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend“, as it is now in exchange with the Ancelotti’s for their kidnapped daughter Grace. The two that show up for the exchange are Luis and Gay Tony.
null

null
Carrying on with the exchange for the mission, it is ambushed yet again but this time from the familiar face of Ray “Rodislav” Bulgarin. Bulgarin worked for Dimitri. Like Dimitri, Bulgarin had a past business betrayal with Niko, only Niko was the betrayer on his account. Earlier in the story, Dmitri lured Niko into a trap and re-introduced Bulgarin as the man Niko owed from a smuggle in Italy. If you’re caught up with the characters in this mission lets continue: Mr. Bulgarin claims that the diamonds belong to him now as one of his men snatches them. A large shootout ensues, Bulgarin drives away, but the man with the diamonds runs off in another direction.
null

null
After Niko and Packie shoot through the onslaught, they finally reach a high rise  and corner Bulgarin’s henchman in possession of the diamonds. The man accepts that he is going to die either way, so instead of handing over the diamonds, he throws them onto moving traffic below the bridge in which the diamonds land in a garbage truck driving by. This could also be a mission for Luis as he must now chase after Bulgarin or flee from him. It is confirmed that neither Niko, Johnny, or Luis end up with the diamonds because on a news website inside of GTA IV reads that a homeless man stumbles upon diamonds found in garbage and becomes wealthy. It was meant to be for that hobo since the diamonds have been in garbage in more than one occasion.

nullREFERENCE #8: Police Records Show
null
The last and certainly not least, reference 8. It is quite possibly the strongest clue of them all. With Niko or Johnny go ahead a find your nearest computer or Internet Café. Log in and search www.libertycitypolice.com. From here navigate to the bottom most area of the page and click the link to search the police records. Find Niko Belik, Johnny Klebitz, and Luis Fernando Lopez. Pay very close attention to their records and notice that out of all the people that are on file, they are the only three people with an account of Grand Theft Auto. Try and deny that coincidence as a clue!
null
Furthermore, they describe Luis as a Dominican-American street gangster who, during his earlier years, was associated with the Northwood Dominican Drug Dealers. He works as a bodyguard for club owner Gay Tony. He is also been rumored to be involved in underground fight clubs. This is key information to seeing what’s in store Luis. Each character set themselves apart with specialties different from one another. Niko is more proficient with professional weapons and driving vehicles as Johnny is better oriented with motorbikes and assault weapons. It could possibly be that Luis is better with hand-to-hand combat and helicopters, who knows! As for his connection with Gay Tony, it may be strictly business. Luis could probably be trying to make big moves from the streets and land bigger paying jobs. Or it could be that he is trying to live better by neglecting the drug scene and working as Gay Tony’s bouncer.
null
Little is known about Gay Tony except for his linkage to two night clubs he owns in southern Algonquin. “French” Tom Rivas, a homosexual male who conversed with and was killed by Niko at The 69th Street Diner, informed Niko that Anthony was broke despite is flashy lifestyle. He is only connected with the Ancelotti family in connection to his friend Grace Ancelotti. Since this isn’t Luis’s first connection to the Ancelottis’ we feel that he may have a great deal of missions based from the that mob family. What a tangled web Rockstar has weaved.

Really great thread and lots of details, there is just one little mistake in #6 wire-tap you say that the identity of Bryce’s blackmailers are unknown but in the little cut scene where Nico speaks with the representatives they say Dimitri Rasculov ( or whatever his name is) doesn’t ask twice, and they the chase begins.
