The hunter is clearly one of the most dominant classes across the board as a twink because of their ability to deal heavy amounts of damage from range. With the Beast Mastery build, you’ll have your pet doing a great deal of your damage for you. Pickup a boar and make sure to train him the two most important abilities he can learn: Dash and Charge. This is going to be your saving grace in keeping the fleeing masses in range of your bow! For Beast Mastery, you should focus on Attack Power. All other attributes are secondary but you’ll get healthy amounts of everything you need with this setup:
Head: Embrace of the Lycan
Enchant: +100 Health
This item can be found in Zul’Farrak off of Chief Ukorz Sandscalp. It’s a BOP item, so make sure you loot it with your twink – best bet is to have your twink do all the looting, period. Let your 70 helper do the clearing, if it’s not your alt then agree to some kind of arrangement before hand in gold rather than allowing him to loot anything. Don’t want to take chances.
Neck: Woven Ivy Necklace
Enchant: N/A
This is the obviously easily acquired PvP reward necklace – just for doing what you do. BG’s!
Shoulders: Phytoskin Spaulders
Enchant: N/A
These drop off of Razorlash in Maraudon. They have a pretty high drop rate so it shouldn’t be to difficult to get these in a run or two.
Back: Grovekeeper’s Drape
Enchant: +12 Agility
Another Maraudon item – this time off of Celebras the Cursed. It also has a good drop rate.
Chest: Honorguard Chestpiece
Enchant: +6 All Stats
This is a quest reward for the quest Venom to the Undercity. The quest is out of the Hinterlands and will require some travel – to erm, the Undercity. If you aren’t Horde, a good substitute is probably Fungus Shroud Armor. I say probably because I’m not Alliance so I didn’t look to hard for an Alliance equivalent.
Wrist: Windtalker’s Wristguards
Enchant: +26 AP
The only thing you’re going to spend getting these is time, it’s another PvP reward for BG’s. You are going to have to spend some coin for the enchant though – but worth every copper piece.
Hands: Rockgrip Gauntlets
Enchant: +26 AP
Another Mara item with a good drop rate – this time off of a Boss named Landslide.
Waist: Defiler’s Girdle
Enchant: N/A
PvP reward, ’nuff said.
Legs: Legguards of the Vault
Enchant: Nethercobra Leg Armor
These leggings are BOE and should be available for sale on the AH. Their are better BOP leggings out there for sure – but if you want to empower them with your Leg Armor upgrade (+50 AP and +12 Crit Chance) then you have to go with BOE – which far outweighs the BOP stuff.
Feet: Defiler’s Chain Grieves
Enchant: +12 Stamina
PvP reward boots with an enchant to give you a good solid boost to your health. Squishy is just not good.
Ring: Blackstone Ring
Another Mara drop off of Princess Theradras. This one however is a low percent chance to drop, so you may have to do the run a few times to get it.
Ring: Aquamarine Signet of the Monkey
A BOE ring commonly available on the AH. You should have no trouble finding this one.
Trinket: Figurine – Truesilver Boar
Use this item for a little extra attack power while your standard PVP Insignia is on cool down. Always have your PVP Insignia equipped when not on a cooldown to break CC. You should be able to find this on the AH.
Trinket: Rune of the Guard Captain
This is a quest reward for a Hinterlands quest chain called Job Opening: Guard Captain of Raventusk Village
Melee Weapon: Grimlok’s Charge
Enchant: Savagery (+70 AP)
This is a drop off of Grimlok in Uldaman. It’s a low (15-24%) chance to drop so you may have to make the run more than once. Definitely your best choice for a two hander for your twink.
Ranged Weapon: Outrunner’s Bow
Enchant: Sniper Scope (+7 Dmg)
I may catch heat for this pick, being that it’s a PvP reward for Warsong Gulch. But I feel it’s the best weapon for a hunter in this bracket. You can buy it from Illiyanna Moonblaze in Ashenvale.

These guides are great, thanks for taking the time to share them. I direct the twinks in our guild to them all the time. Is it possible to fix the item links though? Those are quite useful and many of them don’t appear to be working.

As a matter of fact I started looking into repairing and hopefully updating these guides yesterday. Item links should be updated within the next couple of days and hopefully I’ll be able to get some insight into the most recent patches to update the guides.
