WoW Twink Guide: 39 Affliction Warlock

I was initially trying to design a 49 bracket Warlock when I realized a lot of the twink gear I was grabbing could also be used in the 39 bracket, so I re-wrote the guide for the lower bracket.  Why?  Because twinking is all about getting the absolute using the most powerful gear you can at a lower level.  Why make a powerful 49 twink when you can make a God-like 39?  Roughly the same power as the 49 with a few less abilities but going up against much easier opponents. Not to mention, less leveling and stress and a great bracket to play in.

First let me set up for you the requirements for a good Warlock twink.  There are only two things we want to worry about here; lots and lots of health and even more bonus spell damage!  Intellect will come in this setup here and there for sure - you’re a caster you’ll need mana - but it will be an afterthought to the former two.

Head:  [Green Lens] of Shadow Wrath

Enchant:  +100 health

This is a player made item (engineer) and has a random enchant.  Obviously, you’re going to want the of Shadow Wrath version (+34 or +36 bonus to Shadow damage).  Even if you buy this on the AH, you’re going to need to level engineering to 245 to use it - well worth the trouble.

Neck:  [Pulsating Crystalline Shard]

Enchant: N/A

This is a quest reward off of the Summoning the Princess quest chain.  You’re going to need help to finish this chain and it’s a little lengthy, it starts in the Arathi Highlands and ends in the Badlands.  If you don’t want to run the chain for the item or can’t because you’re to close to leveling you can always sacrifice the bonus spell damage and go with the PVP neck from your battleground vendor for added stamina instead.

Shoulders:  [Darkmist Mantle] of Shadow Wrath

Enchant:  N/A

Find this baby off the AH - look for the +20 Shadow Spell damage variant as this is a random enchant item.  You will also see a +19 Shadow Spell damage version, which is okay if you can’t find that extra damage variation of the shoulders.

Back:  [Mantle of Lady Falther'ess]

Enchant:  +20 Spell Penetration

There are easy to find BOE items you can get to fill this slot on the AH if you want the easy way out, some with more bonus Shadow Damage (slightly) than this item - but none that also add intellect.  This is a boss drop off of Lady Falther’ess in Razorfen Downs.

Chest:  [Robes of the Lich]

Enchant:  +150 Health

Another Razorfen Downs boss drop, this time off of Amnennar the Coldbringer.  These will give you some nice bonuses to both your health and mana pool.  It also has a plus to spell critical strike rating, which is helpful when you are casting Shadow Bolts or Searing Pain.  It’s otherwise useless on your DoT attacks but still nice to have for when you need it.

Wrist:  [Bloodwoven Bracers] of Shadow Wrath

Enchant:  +12 Stamina or +15 Spell Damage

An item that should be easily found on the AH for a price.  Look for the +14 Shadow Damage version.  You can double that with the +15 spell damage enchant or if you are looking for a little more survivability you can go with the additional 12 stamina enchant - up to you.

Hands:  [Black Mageweave Gloves]

Enchant:  +20 Spell Damage

This build is just chock full of AH available items, which makes it easy to make - if you have the coin to do it.  These will add a huge bonus to your damage output when combined with the plus damage enchant.

Waist:  [Defiler's Cloth Girdle]

Enchant:  N/A

Easy - PVP reward item and no enchants, this is a freebie.

Leggings:  [Necromancer Leggings]

Enchant:  [Mystic Spellthread]

These pants when combined with the Mystic Spellthread will give you a whopping 27 stamina, 11 intellect and 35 bonus spell damage!  Don’t waste your money on the Nethercleft Leg Armor for the enchant.  It’s 40 stamina is nice to keep you alive, but you can only stay alive so long if you aren’t putting out some damage.  You only need to survive long enough for the enemy to die.

Boots:  [Defiler's Cloth Boots]

Enchant:  +12 Stamina

The PVP boots are a freebie so take advantage.  They are also the best boots you can get with added boost to speed (critical for PVP).  The plus to stamina enchant will cost you a little coin so this slot isn’t completely free.

Rings:  [Underworld Band] x 2

The Underwold band is definitely the best ring for you in this bracket.  It’s available on the AH and you are going to want to double up and grab two of these.  It’s an epic item but it’s not unique, so you can have more than one equipped.

Trinkets:  PVP Trinket and [Arena Grand Master]

The PVP trinket is essential to keep you out of fear and polymorph effects and the Arena Grand Master, though hard to get, will save your life many times over.

Weapon:  [Staff of Jordan]

Enchant:  Soulfrost (+54 Shadow Damage)

Expect to pay a lot for both this item off the AH and possibly even more for the enchantment.  These two combined can run you up to 1,000+ gold but worth every copper piece.

Wand:  [Ember Wand] of Shadow Wrath

Enchant:  N/A

Lastly the wand, this I had a hard time deciding on and eventually went with the above for the +7 Shadow Damage.  If you are in need of additional mana, you could go with [Jaina's Firestarter].
