Play PC Games On Your PS3 with StreamMyGame

uper exciting folks – It’s out, it’s exclusive, & it’s official! Ever waited for the chance to play PC games on the television screen, on your not-so high end laptop or desktop PC, or even on your Playstation 3? Well here’s your chance to do so with the new StreamMyGame Server. Ok, enough with the gimmick, what’s up with this product?!  Articles of this piece of work have surfaced the net’s front pages as if a Super Hero product has finally arrived to save the day for PC gamers everywhere. The logo of the product even has a big S to certify the analogy.

Those behind the product virtually promise to enable your PC games playable without lag while the audio and visuals are transmitted onto another platform via a Home Network. The platforms include Linux based devices, laptops, and PCs. I mean I found it myself in a search after typing in “Play PC Games on PS3″ so that my brother would play his PC game elsewhere and I could complete my work. The articles were exciting to read, filled with positive quotes that would typically come into good terms with most avid gamers: “Playing the latest PC game on the PS3 is now a reality at HD resolution and fast frame-rates,” said Richard Faria CEO. “I have a PS3 in my living room and PC in my office and my two kids both have old PCs in their bedrooms,” he said. “Now we can play games anywhere around the home”.

For an immerging product that sounds so great, many still question its credibility as a product that will surpass the RSX and Cell obstacles in order to perform without loss of resolution and game play speed.   In compatibility with Direct X9-10, StreamMyGame advertises to run game streams from low to Super HDTV [3200 x 2400] high resolutions (offering low-resolution free). You could also calibrate the keyboard controls to the console controllers and use it while on your PS3.  The CEO, Faria, mentions that StreamMyGame’s technology will be networking with the power of a main PC so that high end games are transmitted fine on other PCs, PS3s and Linux devices; thus full PC games will be provided available to be played over their broadband networks of massive capacity.

My question is would I always need my PC in order to play my games elsewhere, or am I forever bound to the PC one way or another? How much of a Super Hero product is this really? Hopefully they will indeed host games without me having physical ownership to them. Therefore, I may play PC games on wherever they say I can using their server.

Sounds like you’ll still be chained one way or another to the PC to me, but still a good idea for those wanting to share the PC power with others for multi-tasking or just to use the console controls and TV for a monitor.

Now…they need to work on porting X-Box, PS3 and Wii over to the PC (reverse of what they are doing) so I can play Star Wars The Force Unleashed on my PC! :)
