They haven’t put in press releases out about this title over at Novalogic yet, but it’s definitely on the way – and soon. It looks like DFX2 is going to be released within the next couple of months, apparently with no obvious beta test period. The word around the Novaworld2 community is that the game will be releasing sometime in March 2009.
I wasn’t a really big fan of the original DFXtreme that came out.. what was it, a couple of years ago? The game seemed thrown together and wholey unbalanced in classes. It was fun for a month or so but my squad, The Delta Force Legends decided not to compete in DFx and instead move on to greener pastures and larger communities in the Battlefield series. But some of the rumors surrounding this new release have me thinking twice.
Some of the highlights seem like no brainers – improved cheat detection, better balance for weapons and vehicles and a large amount of support and assets for the map modding community will be included. The game engine is going to be pretty similar, if not the same engine as the original DFx but with a larger HD footprint and some upgraded system requirements. But the word is, if you could run the old DFx pretty well, then you shouldn’t have problems with the new one.
The thing that really has my panties in a wad is the maps (terrain) they are talking about including. According to a Nova official, the game will include a slew of new terrains for folks to battle it out on and, get this, “all the terrains”. Now, it’s not clear exactly what they mean by that. Are they talking about all the old DFx terrains, or ALL the old DF terrains? If it’s the latter, that’s going to have a horde of DF and DF2 players jumping into this game to revisit some of their old favorites. DF2 maps were some of the best I’ve ever played, getting to experience them in a new engine with new weaponry is exciting to say the least. But we’ll have to wait and see what they mean.

Down with delta force xtreme. All these people been holding on for nova dispite all their friends moving on to cod and other way better created games for Nova to just pull the wool down over our eyes again. Angels falls pushed back to 2010? I think they are all smoking some silly shit over there at nova. Nova with a cheat free game ya right. I believe this title is going to be nova logic’s demise. Not my fault you guys don’t know how to sore with eagles!- STOP WORKING WITH TURKEYS

Besides the problem of a smaller competitive community than most other titles, Nova has always been infested with cheats and trainers. Luckily, they usually are horrible players to begin with and end up getting owned anyway.
Nothing more gratifying than killing a cheat in a PUB. The only thing that every worried me about cheaters is in competition, we’ve busted a few in our day – and we won the matches too. But it’s much more difficult. I really doubt this game will be any more cheat free than the rest, we’ll have to wait and see.

Arrrrrg First thing that stands out is vehicles…LAME! Delta Force and vehicles, I don’t understand it, it should even be called Delta Force then. More like their lame ass Joint Operation. Hey NOLOGIC, go back to what made Delta Force so appealing to the majority of followers and improve on it. And quit being cheap and do something about the cheats that infest all your games. It might cost you money in the short run, but you will get that shiznet back in the long run.
For allot of people that is what your known for, Cheats! If your not going to support your games for as long as your going to sell it, you have NO business being in business.
As for me buying your product, no I will not with drivable vehicles. BTW, Isn’t that when your games
really started to flop, when you started adding the drivable crap?

True, the vehicles weren’t driveable until JO. I’ll admit though they did add an element strategy to the game that wasn’t there before. As a match planner, we came up with some interesting and dominating strategies utilizing vehicles.
That said, I do prefer the ground pounding foot soldier action of the previous DF titles. Task Force Dagger was probably the last Nova game that will not include vehicles of some kind. BHD had them, not driveable but it had them. The foot soldier only days are probably behind us.

Yes, Vehicles are here to stay. I am a Vet of JO and JOE and the vehicles do add to the statagey of the game. Especially when you have 30+ a side. I think Angel falls will be too late. COD is getting bigger maps and has AI controlled air attacks on command.
I prefer JOE with ICE Mod. VERY GOOD. Just needs Angel falls developers to stop farting around and release a Beta at least.
If you like large squad play there’s no where to go other than Angel Falls.
Peace ;~)

I wish they’d do something about the grass. They aren’t visible at a distance, so if you’re prone thinking you’re safe because you’re concealed by grass, think again. I know they made the player model look transparent when in grass, but still, they are way too visible.

ah well im playing the beta now and all it is, is joint ops with a hint of df2 .
the bunkers are df2, some buildings are but the choppers , tanks and bs is all joint ops.. im sick and tired of waiting for nova to get it sorted.. well waiting since bhd was the last decent thing they came out with. lose the hummers, tanks and choppers and get it back to fighting as soldiers.
i played df2 for years , sadly its dead now but long live clans like RAR, ESL, EWD, DOW. ive played the frag fest called cod4 and wow but nothing compares to df2.
in the end lose all the tanks and choppers and just redo df2 with a decent new gfx engine !!! that’s it nova and you will have a hit again….

@jan – Yes it is
It’s hear now though, watch the crap talk fly.
@cryora – That’s been a problem with past Nova games as well. Foliage disappears at a distance and though you think you are hidden, you really are not. At least they seem to have gotten rid of the little black dot syndrome. But I tend to keep up on my feet and moving, the best way to stay alive. If you are a sniper, find a nice ridge to hide behind rather than tall grass.
@snoopdog – I’d love to see a true DF2 remake

dude, it dont matter if your a 5 hundred yards away, everybody knows where everybody is thanx to the little map that shows your blue or red, like a huge heartbeat sensor for everyone and everything… i didnt like that. But it still takes a few secs/minutes to find or track down exactly where that player is… foliage or not, they know pretty much where you are.
